A Good Day For Justice: David Zimmer To Face 20 Years In Jail
A few months ago, I wrote about David Zimmer on this site, discussing the sort of skullduggery that he was up to at Westlake. Now David Zimmer has plead guilty.
The actual complaint by the state of New York is available online and includes such language as:
DAVID ZIMMER, 38, a resident of Maryland, was arrested and charged today with theft of government money and wire fraud in connection with a scheme to defraud the Empire State Development Corporation (“ESDC”) and the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (“HUD”) of $270,000 in federal grant money made available after the September 11, 2001, terrorist attacks to provide assistance to certain businesses in lower Manhattan.
And my personal favorite:
If convicted of all of the charges in the Complaint, ZIMMER faces a maximum penalty of 20 years in prison and a fine on each count of $250,000 or twice the gain or loss reslting from the offense.
I said it before, but it bears repeating, some people just have no morals.

Rob,
Schlanger and Eoyang were under investigation last I heard after the feds found Zimmer did no wrong doing at WestLake. Turns out, Eoyang got the CPA firm to complete the fake application and Eoyang signed it.

I really wonder whether we will all ever know what was really going on there. It seems that they all turned on each other. I wonder who is actually to blame.

What was WIT accused of doing?

WIT took, and still has not repaid, $160,000 of WTC grant money. Either Eoyang, Schlanger, Zimmer or some combination applied for the grant together with false tax returns provided by the CPA firm. WIT sued Zimmer for $200,000 and lost in bankruptcy court.
