When TV Gets It Wrong (or, Michael Chiarello is a charlatan)

Michael Chiarello hosts "Entertaining Made Easy" on Food Network, and generally, I like him. His food is simple and tasty. But today, he outed himself as a charlatan. He made a black and tan as part of the episode "Team Dinner" absolutely bass-ackwards, worse, he claims he was Irish in a former life! I can see why you got offed that time, Michael.

First, a Black and Tan is always, always, always Guinness and Bass. In this case, it was Guinness and Corona. Second, the Guinness is on top of the concoction, adding to the mystery. He said that the heavier beer goes on top, but that's a myth when you use a real ale. The Guinness is easily floated using a spoon and it makes a wonderful illusion and conversation piece, not to mention, lovely drinking.

Comments:

I saw that episode a while back Tom...

Like you, I generally like MC - I do think he is a bit of a clown though.

FWIW - I believe it's equally as acceptable, if not more so than using Bass, to use Harp in black and tans.
