Four Things

Okay, I don't do memes here, well, at least, not usually, but this one is simple enough. You may thank Jason for tagging me. Read on for more.

Four Jobs I've Had

  1. Ditchdigger/Maintenance Guy for Davis Joint Unified School District. My boss, Hugh, said to me one day, after I broke a sprinkler line no one warned me about, “I like you, Bridge. You're not that bright, but you lift heavy things.” Overall, $15/hr for spreading old paint on tar paper? Not bad.
  2. Music Director, WDUB. Possibly my favorite job ever. We received something like 20-30 new CDs a month and I got to listen to all of them. Most of them really blew, but some were worth owning. I loved talking to people at the labels. I listened to a LOT of music that year.
  3. City Captain, Metroblogging DC. My second favorite, for sure. Great people, great writing. How many jobs let me throw parties for my writers?
  4. Itinerant Technologist, NCEE. I learned so much on the job here. From routers, to switches to telephony, to the inner workings of Mac OS X Server, I have this job, and my coworkers there, to thank for all I know about the Mac.

Four Movies I Can Watch Anytime

  1. Office Space. It doesn't matter where I come into this movie, I can watch it til the credits roll. Bonus points if I get there before they destroy the fax machine.

  2. Major League. There is a pact amongst men that says this movie (or its equivalent in other sports) must be on this list. This movie has spawned so many of the great sports lines that are so eminently quotable in any situation.

  3. The Blues Brothers. The music, the guest stars, the fond memory of my youth and the car chases. Not a bad scene in this one.

Four Places I Want To Live

  1. San Francisco proper
  2. Sydney Australia
  3. Colorado
  4. London

Each of these places has some real meaning for me, and I'd love to live in all of them. When I win the lotto tonight...

Four TV Shows I Love

  1. Battlestar Galactica. Hands down, the best scifi ever on television, and the best show on TV right now. Drama, Action, Comedy (a stretch), and some of the best scoring in entertainment history.
  2. Grey's Anatomy. Good drama, fun writing, and some interesting characters. Always a good thing at 10pm on a Sunday night.
  3. Drawn Together. This show is stupid and absolutely wrooooong. It's also funnnnny.
  4. Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip. Okay, it's not out yet, I know, but this has the makings of a phenomenal show that I will really enjoy.

Four Places I've Vacationed

  1. Northern Minnesota. Home to the Alpine Slide, Grand Marais, Split Rock Lighthouse and Lake Superior. One of my favorite Escapes. Pain to get to, though.
  2. Northern California. Point Reyes, The Central Valley, The Farmer's Market at the Ferry Building, Monterey, Pacific Grove, Napa and the Wine Country. What's not to love?
  3. London. 2000 years old, full of wonderful culture and several of the foundation documents of Western Civilization. Plays. Zaika. The Thames and the Prime Meridian.
  4. Anywhere my car can go. I love to go driving.

Four of my Favorite Dishes

  1. Chili. Who doesn't love a good vegetarian bean chili?
  2. Clam Chowder. Preferably in a Boudin's sourdough bowl.
  3. Pizza. A good medium crust, extra cheese, pepperoni and pineapple, please.
  4. Cannoli from Galileo. No explanation required.

Four Sites I Visit Daily

  1. Flickr
  2. The Washington Post
  3. Metroblogging DC
  4. Fark.com

Four Places I'd Rather Be Right Now

  1. Grilling on my back porch. Sadly, it's raining.
  2. At a coffee shop, rocking out to some tunes and reading.
  3. Detroit, for the Super Bowl.
  4. The Bahamas.

I'm supposed to tag people here, but I figure I'll let you all do it for fun and profit.

In Office Space, wasn't it a laser printer?

Off to do my own...
