Spam Bomb

I'd just like to take this time to thank Six Apart for the 50+ Trackback spams I've received in the last 24 hours. Thanks for stopping those, guys, I really appreciated the extra work to go through and turn off trackbacks for all my old entries. You didn't make it impossible, and I do thank you for that, but there's got to be a way to turn it off for all entries somewhere in the interface.

I realize you probably figured this out, but I'm totally done with you at the end of this year, and this blog will move away from Typepad because of several reasons:

1) No good spam control. Sorry guys, but the plug-in architecture for Typepad never showed up.

2) Really, really bad corporate communications. You guys do decent at marketing, but you never, ever figured out how to talk with your customers. You just don't get that I want to hear the details as to why the server's down, I want to hear what you're doing behind the scenes to make it all better. Instead, you tell us nothing, and when you do deign to tell us something, it's often wrong.

3) The features aren't keeping up with the cost.

Those are three big reasons to walk away from a platform that I've been part of since the beta-test. You've got a chance to keep my business, and I'm laying it out for you now. Otherwise, I'll take my blog and go to a separate server.

Get cracking.

Comments:

Though I've been much happier with Typepad - after coming from Blogger, who wouldn't be? -- I have to say I agree it is very frustrating to have to delete each individual slice of Trackback spam.
Hope someone from Six Apart reads your post, and actually looks into these problem areas.
