My Day Just Went Pro.

“When the going gets weird, the weird turn pro.” -- Hunter S. Thompson

Let me tell you a story about my day. This afternoon, I got home to a message on the machine. It was from a number I didn't recognize, and a name that didn't ring any bells. Curious, I called it. Got an answering machine and thought nothing of it. They called back.

His name is “Craig” and he wanted to give me some information. Craig tells me that he's recently spent 9 years in prison. Craig spent time in jail with David Zimmer, whom I have written about twice before. You may find both entries on this weblog, One in 2004, One in 2003. Craig said that while in prison with David, he was offered a generous sum of money to have me beaten up and have the stuff I wrote about David removed from the internet. Craig didn't want to spend more time in jail, and didn't have any desire to hurt me, and for that I am grateful. He warned me, though, that Zimmer had a big mouth and may have extended the same offer to others.

Please note that I have no way of authenticating any of this, just my initial conversation Craig.

I've called the Arlington Police. I've called my lawyer. I've also called the US Attorney's office in New York City, who prosecuted David.

I will not be threatened.

Comments:

Holy crap, but that's messed up! It certainly sounds like something that should be taken seriously, so I'm glad you've done so.

Thinking of you, Tom.
