We stepped off the plane at just before noon mountain time today, a little worse for wear, but glad to be done flying. The medication I'm taking for my cracked rib makes me a little nauseous, which lead to my getting airsick for the first time since I was about eight. Though, technically, the worst was after we landed, so, go figure.

We headed straight from Sky Harbor to Maryvale to catch the 1:05 kickoff of the A's/Brewers game. I heard a few people complaining about the weather, but with the sunshine beaming down, and the temperature above 60 degrees Fahrenheit, I could see no problem.

We watched eight full innings of ball in the sun. I had a brat with onions and mustard. I had some fresh peanuts. I witnessed the rite of Spring made new again. The thwack of a hard-thrown fastball against the rigid leather of a new catcher's mitt. The crack of a splintering Louisville Slugger. The shout of the concessionaire, the boom of the announcer.

Heaven.
