If You Build it...

Row of Seats

It's crazy. We all have moments, though, when we cast aside the firm grip of reality and shoulder instead the burdens of our dreams. We change directions and head a new way.

I think it's something that, while not uniquely American, is certainly more tolerated, perhaps even expected. Two and a half years ago, I quit my day job, a secure, safe position working in corporate IT, to form Technolutionary and become my own boss. It was a fantastic idea in my head, the reality of which never seemed quite tangible to me. Several times since then, I've had this dreamy stare, often when depositing a check, that comes from the notion that I'm actually doing this for a living.

I wonder if that's what Ryan Zimmerman is feeling right now, as he's sitting at home getting ready to go to sleep. See, he hit this home run tonight in the 9th inning to give the Nats their first win at the new Nationals Park. He must've had this same feeling. He threw off the yoke of reality, of the steady day job, to play professional baseball.

Tomorrow, I'll probably have that stare again as I plan my week of client visits. Good stuff.

Ahhh baseball, how I have missed thee. Today we've seen the Indians and Tigers and these are our seats for the Nationals/Braves nightcap. Tough to take I know!!

Relax, fans, and know that Opening Day is just 19 days away.

WTF?

I'm down in Florida this week, and we ran across this in a Publix grocery store while we were stocking the suite. Apparently, local grocery stores in Orlando don't purchase any local oranges, and thus, have to ship in California Oranges for their produce section.

D'oh.

Where support goes to die...

If you've ever had a problem with Parallels Workstation, and decide to email their support group, you know what it's like to play russian roulette. Sometimes, you get a great answer that gives you exactly what you need. Sometimes, you get an answer that makes you want to kill someone. Here's the answer I got this morning, (from a question I submitted on Tuesday...) and it's literally copied and pasted from my email, the typos and poorly-worded English are all theirs:

Dear Tom,

I suppose that Widows that was installed die.

I suggest you to do the following:

Please right-click the .hdd file in ~/Documents/Parallels/<Your VM Name>
choose Open With->Parallels Explorer and copy all the important files
and data and then create a new fresh VM with Windows.

Also you may create a new VM and add the existing file as a data one.

Wow. Seriously, wow. Sometimes there just aren't words.
